JP Nadda Releases BJP Manifesto for Meghalaya

SHILLONG: The National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Jagat Prakash Nadda released the election manifesto for his party on Wednesday in the presence of several party leaders. The state of Meghalaya goes for voting on February 27 for the 60-member Meghalaya Assembly.

Speaking about the salary increments for the state government employees, the national president said, “We will implement the 7th Pay Commission in Meghalaya and the salaries of the govt employees will be disbursed in time.”

As for the benefit of the farmers of the state, the Bharatiya Janata Party leader mentioned, “we’ve decided that we will enhance by Rs 2000 annually the amount paid to farmers” under Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi.

Towards the benefit of the girls of the state, Jagat Prakash Nadda announced, “a bond of Rs 50000 on the birth of a girl child”. He also promised to provide “free education to girls from kindergarten to post-graduation” in the state governed mainly by martial society rules.

The manifesto was released on the day when the tenure of the previous coalition government under Conrad K Sangma led the National People’s Party comes to an end. The party had a majority share in the post-poll coalition in Meghalaya wherein Bharatiya Janata Party was also a member.

But for the upcoming elections in the states, both political parties have decided to compete against each other the Indian National Congress and the Trinamool Congress are the other parties that are expecting to make a mark in the upcoming elections on February 27.

The BJP leader released the manifesto for the Nagaland Assembly elections earlier on Tuesday. Nagaland also goes to an election on the same day and the Bharatiya Janata Party has entered into a pre-poll alliance with the local Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party for the polls in Nagaland.
